Servant Leadership in Muslim Institutions
A SELF PACED / ONLINE COURSE
Servant leadership in America is often Christian-centric. The Noble Prophet (SAW) has taught
that the leader of a people is their servant. The concept of servant-minded
leadership and follower-ship is central to Islamic teachings.
This course will highlight characteristics of servant leadership, styles and models
of leadership by referencing the lives and teachings of Muslims and their exemplary Prophet (SAW).
Servant leaders become better employees, parents, spouses, friends, citizens, and human beings.
Leaders would be gracious and generous, civil and courteous. Through servant leadership, Muslims
could build solidarity and a sense of community, hospitable, not hostile, organizational cultures.
Leaders could have a calming and comforting presence. Every Muslim is a shepherd,
