1. Early Muslim History: Backdrop to Islamic Civilization
Instructor: Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Shah
This course will provide an overview of early Islamic History by tracing a series of prominent themes. Beginning with the Umayyad dynasty, it will also explore the rise, expansion, and fall of the Abbasid, Fatimid, Seljuk, and Mamluk empires. Additionally, it will highlight the early Islamic presence in Europe (primarily Spain) and Africa, and the interaction between Islam and the Crusades.
2. Comparative Religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam Instructor: Chaplain Yahya Hendi, Georgetown University
This course is about Comparative religion whichis a field of religious study that analyzes the similarities and differences of themes, myths, rituals and concepts among the world's religions. This course will discuss how Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are three closely related religions. Because they all revere Abraham and certain other patriarchs mentioned in the Hebrew Scriptures, Christian Scriptures and Qur'an as their spiritual ancestors, they are sometimes called Abrahamic religions.

1. Islamic Civilization during the Crusades Instructor: Chaplain Yahya Hendi, Georgetown University
The course aims to provide students with a broad knowledge of Islamic Civilization its interaction with the Christian Kingdoms of Europe during the period of the Crusades, with special focus on Muslim – Christian – Jewish relations in Spain.
These courses aim to give students with no previous Arabic / Urdu / Farsi a basic Knowledge of the language. It also introduces the alphabets and the basic structures of the written forms, and aim to develop all the fundamental language skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing.
2. Islamic Finance and Banking Instructor: Dr. Jamal Barzinji, Vice President , IIIT
This course will introduce Islamic legal objectives of financial contracts, forbidden transaction in Islamic commercial law, and characteristics and uses of selected Islamic contracts. It will also touch on key considerations in developing Islamic products such as Islamic credit cards and promissory currency contracts. Also discussed will be Islamic risk management, key liquidity risks for Islamic banks and their treatment, and the basics of Islamic securities.
3. Fiqh: Core of Islamic Jurisprudence
Instructor: Dr. Jasser Auda, Professor of Islamic Studies, Qatar
This course will teach how current applications of Islamic law may be viewed from a holistic, moral, and multi-dimensial prison. It will deal with the overall purpose and underlying principles of Islamic law as a whole, taking judicial issues to a higher philosophical ground, and encouraging a culture of conciliation and peaceful coexistence.
